Apply in person:

1. To apply to get a Gun Possession permit, the applicant must submit an application form to the  Chief of security (Police)in your district and province of the residence contact link
2. It is the Ministry of Interior which issues a gun or firearm permit in Egypt.
3. Applications for permits must be accompanied by a police record and include the photograph and signature of the applicant.
4. The application must consist of the details mentioned in the “Required Information” section of this procedure.
5. The applicant must also submit the documents mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this procedure.
6. Applicants must provide a description of the firearm to be purchased with the license and their profession, and may be required to resubmit records previously provided to security forces.
7. A licensee may occasionally be required to resubmit information and records previously provided with the application for a permit and to notify the authorities of a change of address.
8. When a licensee loses or relinquishes his firearm by sale or other form of transfer to another licensee or gun merchant, he is required to inform the authorities and hand them his permit for endorsement.
9. The new owner must present the firearm to the authorities for identification purposes.
10. If the application is approved, the applicant is only entitled to own the gun listed on the license application, which cannot be an assault weapon, long range gun, or a rifle, which are prohibited by law and carry stiff penalties for possession.

• Attested copy of address proof: Ration Card, Voter Identity Card, Passport, Electricity/ Water/Telephone Bill, Driving Licence, Property (House) Tax, Tax Return, National identification Card
• Attested copy of date of birth: Police clearance Certificate, Birth certificate, Affidavit sworn before a Magistrate/Notary stating date and place of birth by illiterate or semi-illiterate applicants

• The applicant must be physically as well as mentally fit to issue the permit or to possess a gun.
  

The fee is EGP 5000.

The permit is issued for three-years.
