Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for a Prospecting and Mining Permit in person, the applicant has to approach the Ministry of Manpower and Immigration or Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Contact link.
2. The applicant can collect the application Form from the office of the Ministry of the Interior.
3. Fill the forms with the right information to facilitate the process.
4. Fill in all the necessary details in the application and submit with supporting documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. The applicant can consult the concerned authority for fees details.
6. The Commission will review the application and all submitted documents. This process takes averagely 2 to 3 months. Once the applicant meets all the requirements, the Commission will issue an invoice for the license fee to be paid. After payment is done, the Commission will proceed to issue the license accordingly.
7. The process takes two to three months. This is usually the case when applicants present all the documents the right way.
8. If an application is rejected, the license fee shall be refunded back to the applicant.
9. On scrutinizing the application if the issuing officer is satisfied he shall grant the license to the applicant.
10. The processing time for this procedure takes 2 to 3 months.

• Only companies incorporated in Ghana are granted rights to undertake reconnaissance, exploration or mining operations.
• Non-citizens may apply for a mineral right in respect of industrial minerals if the proposed investment in mineral operations is above EGP $ 10 million.

• An applicant can apply for restricted prospecting licence which is valid for 3years. A prospecting licence shall be granted for an initial period not exceeding three years.

• When a Prospecting Licence holder has identified a mineral deposit that he/she is interested in, he/she appoints an agent or an Approved Prospector to peg on his behalf.
• The agent is required to physically peg the area by marking the deposit with a Discovery Peg.

• This permit allows foreign residents in to engage, whether alone or in partnership, in prospecting for minerals or mining in Egypt.

• The applicant can consult the concerned authority for fees details.
• The registration fee is non refundable.
• Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
• Engaging in any form of business or employment without a requisite permit or pass is an offence.
• The applicant must be present in person when the application is presented at the immigration headquarters or regional offices for registration.
• Giving false or misleading information is an offence punishable by law.
• Any person who contravenes any provision or requirement of an order issued to a foreign national commits an offence and is liable to a fine, imprisonment or both.
