Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for National Health Insurance Fund in person, the applicant has to approach the Ministry of Health and Population.
2. Applicant must obtain the application form from the relevant department.
3. The applicant must fill up all the required application form for this procedure or for research clearance.
4. Applicant has to enter all information in the application form.
5. Applicant must make sure to carry both photocopies and originals of all documents are necessary for completing this procedure. Documents that are needed for this procedure are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page.
6. Applicant should attach photocopies of documents (whichever is necessary) along with the applicant from while submitting it at the office.
7. Completed application forms submit to the Ghana Ministry of Health and Population Authority.
8. A fee for this procedure is has to be paid as per as authority’s request.
9. An application for registration and licensing to operate PHIS shall be processed upon payment of a non-refundable amount.
10. Ministry of Health and Population authority may be issued with a permit by the Board upon satisfaction of the requirements set out in Act 852 and as provided for in this guide.
11. Generally, the processing time for this procedure takes 9 weeks.

• National Health Insurance Fund is necessary for individuals who are willing to take medical Insurance in Egypt.

• If a self-employed person has not contributed for 12 months after taking the card, then, the card will be deactivated.
• Claims will be submitted directly to the Insurance providers by the hospitals after the applicant of the health insurance is discharged from the hospital.

• National Health Insurance Fund is seen as a security by some Employers before offering a job to an individual.
