Apply In-Person:

1. To apply for motor vehicle personal number plate the applicant must start with registering vehicle with the Egyptian National Road Safety Board.
2. The applicant must fill up and submit the application form.
3. The applicant’s then required to submit support document to a licensing office appropriate to the applicant. These are situated in different areas in different states of the country. The document submitted also include application for a private number and the desired number;
4. When documents are received, they are examined to assess if all requirements are met and the desired number is sent to the issuing authority for verification;
5. Thereafter, obtain a special number request form, fill it and then make payment for registration, number plate, weighing and registration fee and also pay for the vehicle license;
6. After making form return the filled form accompanied with the payment receipt to the issuing office.
7. Then the produced special plate is documented and given to you together with other necessary documents.

• Identification document of applicant
• Shipping documents (customs card, bill of laden) in cases where the vehicle has been shipped into the country;
• Attestation letter and purchase receipt (vehicles purchased brand new)
• Payment receipts for Registration Fees, Number Plate, Vehicle License, Weighing and Registration.

Driving a motor vehicle without a number plate is illegal. It is mandatory to have a registered number plate on a vehicle number as per Government standards.

Egyptian vehicle registration numbers were purely numeric, and registered by governorate and registration type. Privately owned vehicles were generally given white plates with black lettering; other vehicles' plates were color-coded, with the entire plate being in the applicable color, as follows: Taxis: Orange, Trucks: Red, Government-owned vehicles, including police: Blue, sometimes with a white bar Public buses: Gray Vehicles with unpaid customs: Yellow.
