Denmark - Obtain an Occasion Permit


Procedure

  • To apply for the permit, fill up the application form
  • Submit the form to the police in the area where you are planning to hold your event.

Eligibility

You need to obtain an occasion permit:

  1. If the event only involves serving food and drinks (no strong drinks), the person in charge must be over the age of 18. If you will be serving outside, you need to notify the police at least three days before the event.
  2. If you will also be serving beer and wine, and the event will take place indoors for a maximum of 150 people. The person in charge must be over the age of 25 years. The police need not be informed about the event, but conditions and prohibitions must be followed by those involve in the event.
  3. Police may authorize a person over the age of 25 years old, who is responsible for serving beer and wine, whether it takes place outdoors, and whether it involves more than 150 people.
  4. Police may also allow a person who is fully licensed or a certified manager of food services, either individually or togethere with a person who is aged 25, who is responsible for serving other strong drink other than beer and wine.

Instructions

To secure a police permission for the events mentioned in paragraphs 3 and 4 (from the Eligibility section), the applicant must have prior authorization from the Danish Commerce and Companies Agency, if you as an applicant manufacture or distribute beverages, or if you are applying financed by companies or persons that manufacture or distribute drinks.

You must at all times be able to present your occasion permit whenever the police requests for it. The police also has the power to revoke your permit.

Depending on the nature of the event, the police may also require that you use approved doormen or inspector association.
