Denmark - Obtain Copy of Birth Certificate

Procedure

[edit]

For a copy of your Danish birth certificate please contact the church where your birth was registered. If you do not have that information, please contact the Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs in Denmark. Make sure to include all the information you have about your birth.

Or if you are abroad, you can get it from the church in the parish where your birth was registered.

Call the relevant municipality (kommune) and ask for the church office. Addresses and telephone numbers can be found on https://www.borger.dk (Danish only).

Alternatively, you can look up contact details for the relevant parish on https://www.sogn.dk (Danish only). The person responsible for supplying copies of Birth Certificates is the Parish Registrar (kirkebogsfrer). Because of Danish regulations the new certificate cannot be forwarded directly to you, but must be forwarded to the Embassy.
