Denmark - Apply for an Alien Passport


Procedure

  1. Complete the Application form PA1.
  2. Submit the application form in person at the Danish Immigration Service's Citizen Service. If you live outside the Greater Copenhagen area, you can submit the application at a local police station.
  3. Bring a photograph.
  4. Bring proof of identity document.
  5. Pay the application fee.

Note:
If you were unable to obtain a passport from your country of citizenship, you need to document a letter from the embassy. This is only applicable to those who are not recognized as a refugee in Denmark.

Eligibility

  • foreign nationals who hold a Danish residence permit
  • foreign have been recognized as stateless in accordance with the United Nations Convention of 28 September 1954 about the legal rights of stateless individuals
  • foreign nationals who hold refugee status (protected status) under the Danish Aliens Act, section 7(2) or section 8(2)
  • foreign nationals who have been granted a Danish residence permit under the Danish Aliens Act, section 8(3)
  • child under the age of 18 whose parents hold refugee status in Denmark
  • children who hold a residence permit as an unaccompanied minor asylum seeker

Processing time for an alien passport may take up to 10 weeks.
