1. To apply for a new passport, go to the Consulate of your jurisdiction and fill in the application form.
2. The proceedings before the Consulate can last about an hour.
3. Once you have submitted your application, your documents will be forwarded to the Passport Section of the Directorate of Immigration, who will authorizes the issuance of the new passport.

• Photocopy of passport expired
• Photocopy of valid identity card on both sides. In case of a minor, birth certificate must be presented
• Two passport size colored photographs
• Consular stamps

To request a new passport due to theft or lost:

• Letter addressed to the Directorate General of Immigration explaining why no passport, clearly indicating when, how and where it was lost or stolen passport.
• Copy of the report of the police report. If he does not extend a report, request an assigned case number, name and telephone number of the officer.
• Photocopy of valid identity card on both sides. In case of a minor must present a birth certificate.
• Two passport size colored photographs.
• Consular stamps.

A passport is a document issued by the government. It certifies the identity and nationality of the holder, to be used for travel abroad. It contains informations about the holder; like name, gender, date and place of birth.

This document does not in itself entitle the passport holder entry into another country, nor consular protection while abroad nor any other privileges. However, it does normally allows the passport holder to return to the country where the passport was issued. Rights to consular protection arises from international treaties, while the holder's return to the issuing country depends on the laws prevailing in that country.
