Apply In-Person:
- The owner or the occupier of the swimming pool shall approach the respective office of the designated executive authority (Commissioner of a Municipal Corporation or a Municipality or the Executive Officer of a Municipality or a Town Panchayat) having jurisdiction over the area as appropriate to register for the grant of permission to operate the swimming pool

- Please visit the respective office and consult with the designated authority. The authorities will provide information on the concerned section to apply and the updated procedure details if any which the applicant needs to follow to get registered.
- The applicant shall collect the application form or write on a plain A4 sheet as advised.
- Please complete the application form with the mandatory details. Attach the document as per the “Required Documents” section of this page and submit in 4 sets to the designated receiving authority as advised.
- After receiving the application, authorities will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted. Please pay the applicable fee as appropriate.

- The authorities will make entries about this application in the manual record or electronically using the computer.
- An acknowledgement receipt will be given for every form received. Please collect it and keep it safe for future reference.
- The applicant will be informed of the probable date of getting approval.
- ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile.
- The application will be processed internally. Based on requirement, the department will forward the application to the respective nodal agency or the committee for its consideration.
- The nodal agency or the committee will process the application to check the criteria for the grant of licence. Once the agency is satisfied, the agency or the committee will advise the licencing authority for the grant of licence.
- The issuing authority will complete the formalities to grant the permission to operate the swimming pool in prescribed form as appropriate. If required, inspection of swimming pools shall be carried out.
- The status, viz. approval, will be conveyed to the applicant through an “SMS” or by post or as per applicable norms.
- The applicant shall visit the respective office as notified and follow the authorities’ guidelines to get the permit.
- The licence will be delivered to the office address mentioned on the application through post or hand-delivered as notified, or it will be delivered as per applicable norms.
- The whole process can be completed within 15 to 30 days or as per the timeline provided by the authorities.

- Latest water test report from authorized laboratory
- Notary public notarized affidavit in a non-judicial stamp paper worth Rs.100 (or as per the advised value)
- Certificate of incorporation of proprietorship/partnership/limited/private Ltd., /company (in case of applicant is a firm)
- Self-addressed envelope cover with stamp (value as advised) affixed
- ”GST” registration certificate in the name of the proprietor/company/firm/individual
- ”PAN” of the proprietor/company/firm/individual
- Aadhaar card

Eligibility
- Any person desiring to operate a swimming pool shall apply.
- The applicant should be a citizen of India.
- Those who are 18 years and above are eligible to apply.
- If the applicant is an organization, then it should be a registered one.
- The applicant should adhere to the space and dimension requirement as per the respective state norms.
- The applicant should make sure that the infrastructure is set as per the safety norms of the respective state government.
Fees
- The applicant shall pay the applicable application fee and other charges as per the authority’s advice.
- The payment can be paid through demand draft / challan or as per the acceptable mode.
- The non-judicial stamp paper for Rs.100 or as per the value mentioned by the authorities.
- The judicial stamp for Rs.5 or as per the value mentioned by the authorities.
Validity
- The registration is valid up to 31st December of the year, or as per the date mentioned on the permit.

Instructions
- Every person operating the swimming pool shall follow all the rules and regulations as per the permit.
- As per the regulation, the owner or the occupier shall operate the swimming pool only after the grant of permission.
- Make sure to keep competent lifeguards as per the number advised.
- The pool water should be continuously disinfected by suitable disinfecting agent.
- There will be a regular and random inspection will be carried out by the designated authorities to monitor the pool safety measures.
- The pool premise should have clean toilets and sanitation facility.
- The pool should have a safe and regular drinking water arrangement.
- A first aid kit should be readily available in the pool premises.
- Do not submit fake documents as a proof to get registered.
- Incomplete application will be rejected.
- Avoid spelling mistakes while filling the application form.

Need for the Document
- A swimming pool cannot be operated unless the owner or the operator of the pool registers the pool as per norms with the respective authority.
- The primary purpose of the permit is to ensure the protection, safety and hygienic environment for the users. The registered pools are inspected on a regular basis to ensure the standard norms.
- As the registration process involves providing the acceptable clearance from the local bodies, proof of infrastructure and other prerequisites ensures the safety of the users as well as the standard of the pool.
- The pool operator or the owner should follow the operational timing of the pool as per the committee’s advice.
