Apply via Agent
This procedure explains various ways to raise a request for the shifting of the electric transformer.
Apply In-Person:
- To apply In-Person, you should visit the allocated complaint canter for your location. You can find the office location and contact details on the Chandigarh Electricity Department website. Complaint Center Location and Contacts
- While applying In-Person, the consumer should obtain the application from the authorities in the office, or else you can download it from the Chandigarh Electricity Department website. Application Form
- You have to fill in the details such as:
- Service Connection No
- Name of Consumer
- Consumer category
- Contracted load
- Address
- Telephone no
- Request for change in service
- If the request is for conversion of service: (Tick whichever applicable)
- If the request is for change of connection to new premises ----˃ b) Details of equipment to be shifted (Meter/service line, LT/HT line, transformer, etc.)
- Reason for change in service( Explain the reason for shifting the transformer)
- Date
- Signature of the Consumer
- Place
- Name
- Contact No
- Email-Id
- Fill out the application form and submit it along with the required documents.
- Make sure you have all the documents mentioned in the “Required Documents” section.
- The authorities will go through the application form and provide an estimate of the amount to be paid to the Electricity Board.
- The estimated amount has to be paid in the Demand Draft (DD).
- After giving the form, they will provide you the Complaint Reference Number and the payment slip with the “Acknowledgement” form.
- You have to keep those details safe for future verification and reference purposes.
Required Documents
For Apply-In Person, the details required are
- Installation inspection report
- Proof of ownership / legal occupancy of premises, if the request is for shifting of premises, such as
- Sale deed
- Allotment, Possession letter
- Municipal Tax receipt
- Gift deed
- Will deed or any other valid document
- An indemnity bond drawn by the owner
- Any other document (please specify)
- Recently paid electricity bill (Shouldn’t have any arrears)
- DD for the estimated shifting charges
- Proof of Identity of the applicant such as
- Ration card
- Election Identity Card
- PAN card
- Aadhar card
- Passport
- Driving license
- Any other document(mentioned by the authorities)

Eligibility
To request a shift in the transformer, the eligibility criteria are:
- You should have the Consumer Number, any valid Identity proof (Ex. Aadhar Card), and the recently paid electricity bill for the mentioned location for shifting.
- You should be the resident or the owner of the land (leaser too) in the mentioned area for “shifting the electric transformer.”
Fees
- The fee structure for the shifting of the electric transformer is given by the respective Electricity Board Officials depending on the location, wiring, and the power supply details of the particular transformer/pole.
- The consumer should bear the cost of shifting the transformer/pole.
- The evaluated fee should be paid in the form of a Demand Draft to the Chandigarh Government.
Validity
Explain the time until which the certificate/document is valid.
e.g. Birth Certificate Valid Forever
Documents to Use
The document needed for shifting the electric transformer is the “Annexure-6 Application form - Conversion of Services / Change of Consumer Category/ Shifting of Connection to new Premises.”

Processing Time
- The processing time is depended on the location, wiring, and power supply details of the particular transformer/pole that needs to be shifted.
- The authorities of the local Electricity board will take a survey and give the estimated processing time for the shifting.
