Because Cameroon is a member of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (in French, CEMAC), it has adopted importation procedures of this union. Member countries have a common currency managed by a common central bank. They share a common financial regulatory and legal structure, and maintain a common external tariff on imports from non-CEMAC countries.
