British Columbia - Get Insurance Adjuster Certificate of Authority


Procedure

Apply Online:

  1. To get an Insurance Adjuster Certificate of Authority, the applicant will need to approach the Insurance Council of British Columbia. Here is the contact Link
  2. The applicant will need to create an account. Click on the following link to the login page Link
  3. If the applicant has an account they can log in. If the applicant does not have an account, follow these steps:
    • On the log-in page, click on the “New User: Register for an account” option.
    • The applicant will need to answer a few questions when prompted.
    • Enter email address and password and agree to the terms and conditions, click on “Create account”.
    • Enter the other information when prompted.
    • The applicant will need to enter address and the additional information and click on “Submit”.
    • The applicant will receive a pop-up confirmation that their account has been created. the applicant will also receive an email confirmation.
  4. Once logged in, the applicant will need to click on the “Apply for a personal licence” option.
  5. The applicant will be directed to the application form. Fill out the application form with all the relevant details.
  6. The applicant will need to submit additional documents as mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  7. The applicant can find fee information under the “Fees” section of this page.
  8. The application will be processed within 15 days from the submission.
  9. Once the application has been approved, the applicant shall receive a confirmation email.

  1. To get a General Insurance Agent Certificate of Authority, the applicant will need to approach the Insurance Council of British Columbia. Here is the contact Link
  2. The applicant will need to submit an application form. Click on the following link to download the application form Link
  3. Fill out the application form with all the relevant details.
  4. The applicant will need to submit the additional documents as mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant will need to make the fee payment, find further information under the “Fees” section of this page.
  6. Submit the application by emailing it to the following email address: licensing@insurancecouncilofbc.com .
  7. Once the applicant submits the application an online portal account will be created and the applicant will receive login instructions via email.
  8. The applicant will need to submit additional documents as mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  9. The applicant can find fee information under the “Fees” section of this page.
  10. The application will be processed within 15 days from the submission.
  11. Once the application has been approved, the applicant shall receive a confirmation email.
  12. The applicant will need to write exams depending on the level they have applies for. Once they pass this exam, they shall obtain their certificate.

Eligibility

  • The applicant must be authorized to represent a licensed adjusting firm.
  • The applicant must meet all the educational prerequisites.
