How to Apply
Apply In-Person

1. A voter that wishes to transfer their voting registration polling station to a new polling station in a new constituency, should first bring their current Voter’s Registration Card to a Registration Officer in the constituency in which the new polling station is located for vetting and assessment.
2. The registration officer will then assess the voter’s eligibility to transfer to the new polling stations based on place of residence and reasons advanced.
3. If the voter is eligible to transfer, he/she must surrender their existing Voter’s Registration Card to the polling station.
4. The voter will then issue with a Registration Transfer Card (Form J) to fill, submit the complete Form to be verified by the registration official and obtain an acknowledgment receipt.
5. Your application will be processed in approximately 2 weeks, if approved the voter will be issued with a new Voter’s Registration Card at the registration office, where the application was file, against his/her national identity card and the acknowledgment receipt.
6. The voter’s name will be deleted from the roll of his former constituency and added to the roll of the new constituency.
7. If the transfer is not allowed, the voter [applicant] will receive a Notice of Rejection (Form K), aggrieved applicant can appeal the decision to the Principal Registration Officer for the constituency, within seven (7) days after the rejection. {Refer to wikiprocedure website; Botswana- How to Appeal Against Rejection of Voter Registration Transfer [for full procedure]}.

To be eligible applicant must meet the following criteria

• Citizens of Botswana, 18 years or above.
• Hold a valid voters registration card.
• Voter that wishes to transfer their registration voting station to another polling station

• No fees associated with the service

• A voter card is valid forever

• Approximately two weeks from the time the voter visits the Registration Officer in the new constituency.

• Any person who is a registered voter at one polling station and would like to transfer their registration to another polling station may apply to have their registration transferred.  A transfer cannot take place when a vacancy has occurred in the polling district the individual wishes to be transferred to.
