- The Disconnection of Water Supply services in a particular region/area or a specific premise shall be carried out by the Water Utilities Corporation (WUC), upon request by the owner/landlord of the premises or in the case where the WUC see the need to disconnect the supply. - The following scenarios may lead to the disconnection of the water supply;
- Non-payment of bills more than 14 days in arrears, provided that the utility issues a 14-day notice to pay in its bill to consumers
- Unauthorized interference with or diversion of use of the utility service.
- Unauthorized use or theft of water
- Refusal to grant access at reasonable times to equipment installed upon the premises of the consumer for the purpose of inspection, meter reading, or maintenance
- Failure to reimburse the utility for repairs to or replacement of the utility’s property used to supply service when such repairs or replacements are necessitated by negligence or deliberate acts on the part of the consumer
- Misrepresentation of identity for the purpose of obtaining service.
- Actions adversely affecting the safety of any consumer or the integrity of the utility’s water and/or sewerage systems
- Any other reason identified by the utility is approved by the regulator and notified to the consumer.
- The Corporation shall disconnect the water supply, upon request by the consumer who has an account with the WUC.
- In the case where the consumer request for the disconnection of the supply, the request shall be made using a prescribed form, Application for the Disconnection of Metered Water Supply, obtainable at any of the Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) office customer care desk, or download it via the WUC website WUC Forms or directly download it using this, Application for the Disconnection of Metered Water Supply
- Applicants are required to submit the supporting documentation as mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page, in addition to the duly completed application forms in all respect to the nearest WUC branch office. Any omission of these documents will render the application process incomplete.
- Upon receipt of the application file, the customer care officer will verify if all the information and documentation are in order, before submitting the request for assessment and processing by the WUC technical team.
- Applicants will be issued with a WUC acknowledge receipt, this receipt will serve as proof of submission of the application and for inquiry referencing if the need arises.
- The technical team will be sent to the premise where the services are required and the water supply will be disconnected. The disconnection will only be effected upon full payment of any outstanding water supply bills.
- In the case where the corporation sees the need to disconnect the supply due to various reasons, consumers within the region that will be affected by the disconnection of the supply will be notified by the corporation in advance, using various communication media, and upon completion of all works, the water supply will be reconnected.

- Copy of a certified applicable identification document.
- Omang or Botswana Passport for citizens
- Valid passport or resident permit for non-citizens
- Valid registration certificate (in the case of a business or company)
- If a tenant applies for services, the landlord’s written consent should be provided (Affidavit).
- Proof of Ownership or Tenancy (Title Deed / Lease Agreement)
- Any other supporting documentation requested by the WUC.

Eligibility
- Residence or Registered businesses/companies, who have an account with the WUC and wish to discontinue the services are eligible to apply.
- The Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) may also disconnect the water supply when it sees the need.
Fees
- Please consult with the Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) office.
Validity
- In the case where the disconnection of the supply is enforced by the WUC due to various reasons, reconnection of the water supply will be immediate, upon completion of all works by the corporation technical team.
- In the case where the request to disconnect the supply was made by a consumer, the reconnection of the water supply will only take place upon request by the consumer and on payment of a fee prescribed by the Corporation.

Important Notes:
Refund of the Deposit Fee.
- Any sum deposited by the consumer or on behalf of him/her, during the connection water supply process, will be reimbursed back to the account holder after deducting any amount due by the consumer to the Corporation, upon request for the disconnection of the water supply services by the consumer, thus terminating the contract between the consumer and the corporation.
- Any person claiming a refund of a deposit shall either:
- Surrender the receipt which was issued on payment of the deposit. OR
- If such receipt is not available, sign a receipt prescribed by the Corporation for the refund to him of such deposit or part thereof, and satisfy the Corporation that he is the person entitled to such refund.
