- Any athletes aggrieved by the decision of the Disciplinary Committee may appeal within seven (7) working days after receipt of the Disciplinary Committee ruling to the Secretary of the National Appeals Board housed in the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport & Culture Development headquarters’ office. - All appeals shall be made in writing, the Appeal letter is to be addressed to the Secretary of the National Appeals Board and should be submitted by registered mail or in person and shall be accompanied by an appeal fee of BWP50.
- The appellant shall at the time of lodging the appeal also serve copies of the papers of the appeal, by registered mail, to all concerned parties being appealed against and to the Chief Executive Officer.
- The secretary of the Appeals Committee shall, within seven days of receiving the appeal file, register the appeal and forward sufficient copies of the appeal file to the members of the Appeals Committee for assessment and processing.
- The appeals committee shall, after receiving the appeal file, set a date for the hearing of the appeal.
- Once the appeal hearing date has been scheduled all concerned parties are notified in writing.
- The appellant and respondent are allowed to be represented by two representatives during the appeal hearing proceeding.
- The appellant shall be heard in support of his or her appeal but shall not argue or be heard in support of any ground of appeal not outlined in the appeal file he/she had submitted will filing the appeal; except by the leave of the Appeals Committee, on a day fixed or any other day to which the Appeals Committee may adjourn the hearing.
- Where the appeal is not complex the National Appeals Board Chairperson will announce the ruling after the presentation by all parties involved.
- If the appeal case is complex, the judgment ruling will be adjourned and a written judgment will then be delivered at a date to be communicated to concerned parties by the National Appeals Board.
