Botswana - Renew Cabin Crew Member Certificate

Apply In Person

  1. An application for the renewal of a cabin crew member certificate/license shall be submitted to the Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana (CAAB) office, not later than sixty (60) days prior to the date of expiry of the current license.CAAB Contact Details.
  2. The application shall be made in writing in such a manner as prescribed by the CAAB office and shall be accompanied by all the supporting documentation as mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page and submitted to the CAAB head office, Personal Licensing unit for consideration, only if the applicant is a holder of a valid medical certificate or after ascertaining that your medical assessment has been assessed as “fit” by the Civil Aviation Medical Board (CAMB). This will be certified in the Aviation Medical Assessment application form. Any omission of the required information or documents will render the application process incomplete.
  3. Upon receipt of the application, the Personal Licensing officers will check for discrepancies or ineligibility in the application documents. If a discrepancy that cannot be immediately corrected exists in any of the documents, the application and all the submitted documents will be returned to the applicant and should not be re-submitted until the discrepancy has been rectified.
  4. If the Personal Licensing officer is satisfied that all the requirements have been met for the application for the license, the application is registered for processing and consideration.
  5. Applicants will be required to pay prescribed fees of BWP 550.00 as mentioned on the CAAB fee schedule (refer to the “Fees” section of this page), which is payable either in cash at the CAAB cashier counter/accounts office or by cheque in favour of the CAAB.
  6. The applicant is issued with a payment slip and an acknowledgment slip as proof of submission of the application and for inquiry referencing if the need arises.
  7. After the successful screening of the submitted documents, a notice of the decision (Approval, Deferral, or Rejection) for the application will be communicated to the applicant by phone or mail after fourteen (14) working days of submitting the application.
  8. Proceed to the CAAB personal registration and license office and present the acknowledgment letter and identity document and proof of payment of the license fee to be validated by the licensing office.
  9. The applicant will be made to, sign on the signature pad/book and will be issued with the printed renewed license.
  10. Cabin Crew Member Licences will normally be renewed for a full period of five years.

  • Proof of required Safety and Emergency Procedure Training (SEPT) of the civil aviation personnel licensing regulation.
  • A current class 2 medical certificate.
  • Cabin crew certificate to be renewed
  • Valid identity document (passport/Identity card)
  • Endorsement on competency book. (Copies of the first 4 pages of this book should be in the application package).
  • Recent passport size photograph
  • Proof of payment of the renewal fee.
  • Any other additional documents requested for be the CAAB

Eligibility

  • The applicant should be in possession of a valid/ expired cabin crew member certificate
  • A holder of a cabin crew member certificate may apply for renewal if the holder has successfully completed the annual safety and emergency procedure training approved by the Authority every twelve months. This is proven by an endorsement of their competency book.




Fees

  • A fee of BWP 550.00 is charged for the renewal application.

Validity

  • The validity of the cabin crew member certificate/license shall be valid for five (5) years, unless suspended, revoked, or cancelled by the authority.
  • Applicants need to apply for license renewal to CAAB at least sixty (60) days before expiry.

  • Present a photo Identification Card or a Passport as a form of identification, details of which should be the same as the personal information provided on the prescribed application form; and if the applicant’s identity cannot be verified, the application will be rejected, and the applicant will have to return with the proper identification.
