How to apply:

1. You should contact the Ministry of Transport and Communications or permit-issuing offices at any of the Department of Road Transport and Safety officesnear youfor more information on how to file the application.
2. Accurately fill in the application form, which can be obtained from the above offices or click the link below to download.FORMS
3. Submit the completed form along with the required supporting documentation (as listed below)to the Transport Controller at any of the permit-issuing offices for verification and processing.
4. If the licencing issuing office issatisfied that you have complied with the all conditions as set for the application of the permit, he or she will then issue you with Permit immediately upon payment of the required fee.

• Copy of the vehicle's registration document (blue book).
• Copy of vehicle's valid Roadworthiness Certificate (at the point of certificate collection).
• Certified copy of applicant's National ID (Omang).
• Copy of valid original permit

• Any locally-registered company or Botswana citizen that is the owner of a minibus to which a passenger permit is already assigned can apply.

Fees per vehicle involved in this process are as follows:

• Application fee of BWP250.00.
• Southern African Customs Union (SACU) fee of BWP100.00, for applicants wishing to cross the border into SACU country.

• Route (Trip) Variation Permit are issued per vehicle.

• Name of the applicant [permit holder]
• Postal address
• Permit number
• Particular of the vehicle
• Nature /purpose of the trip
• Driver’s name
• Particular of passengers

• Minibus operators who already have passenger vehicle permits but wish to vary from their limitations must apply for a Route (Trip) Variation Permit.
