Apply In-Person

1. The application for a Travel Agencies license (License D), shall be made to the Department of Tourism Offices, which is under the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism. Ministry contact details
2. Applicants are required to collect and complete the Application Form for Tourism Enterprise Licence. Copies of these forms are available for free at any Department of Tourism headquarter or regional Offices, or directly download it using this Application Form for Tourism Enterprise Licence Categories A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J & L Link
3. The applicant will be required to submit the certified copies of the supporting documents as mentioned under the” Required Documents” section of this page; in addition to the duly completed application form in all respect to the nearest Department of Tourism Regional Office within the business jurisdiction. Any omission of these documents will render the registration process incomplete.
4. If the application is submitted on your behalf by a consultant, the applicant should include a letter naming the consultant as their representative. The applicant should include their postal address, telephone, and fax numbers.
5. Upon receipt of the application file, the Licensing and Registration officer will verify if all the necessary information and documentation has been provided and that the applications comply with the selection criteria before registering the file.
6. Applicants will be issued with an acknowledgment letter as proof of submission of the application.
7. The application file will be forwarded to the Tourism Industry Licensing Committee for evaluation and consideration, which is within 30 days.
8. Notice of the decision (Approval, Deferral, or Rejection) for the Loan will be communicated to the client in writing and sent via mail.
9. Upon notification of the approval by the licensing committee, the registration and license officer will draw up the license, as directed by the licensing committee, and present it to a senior officer to be certified (signed/stamp) and made available to be issued to the client.
10. The applicant will be required to produce a proof of identity document, approval letter and pay the license fee as mentioned under the “Fees” section of this page while collecting the Travel Agencies license.
11. The Travel Agencies permit/license shall be subject to such terms and conditions as the Licensing Committee deems fit to impose in each case, and such terms and conditions or requirements shall be endorsed on the permit/License.
    

Appeal to the Minister
In case of an unsuccessful application, the applicant has the opportunity to notify the Minister within 30 days of his/her intention to appeal the decision by way of writing and proceeding with the appeal.

• Title Deed or Lease Agreement or Rental Agreement. (Please note: If the land was acquired for a different purpose other than for the project you wish to undertake you should apply for "Change of Use" or "Planning Permission", from your local authorities or Land Board.).
• Details of Vehicle(s) used for Tours, outlining:
• Carrying capacity
• Registration Certificate
• Roadworthiness Certificate.
• Inspection Reports (graded "Satisfactory" by the Department of Tourism)

• The Vetting Committee may request additional documents as they deem necessary
• (Please submit ten (10) copies of all the requirements however only one set of the building plans must be submitted)

There are no application fees charged. Upon approval, the license fee is BWP1000.00.

Travel Agency license is a permit issued to entities that operate businesses that make, plan or reserve travel arrangements for clients or other tourist services excluding air, sea or ocean ticketing but not offering accommodation (whether fixed or not).
