Apply In Person
- The application for Electricity Supply for Individuals shall be made to the nearest Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) branch office. BPC Branches Contact details and Map Locations
- Applicants are required to collect and complete the Application Form for Individual or Business Electricity Supply as the case may be, forms are obtainable at any of the BPC customer care offices. Copies of this form are not available online.
- All Applications made by letter should reflect the full applicant's details, installation details, and supply size. If the applicant is a tenant, the landlord's written consent should be attached. The following attachments are needed:
- Proof of ownership
- Certified copy of Identity
- Submit the completed form in all respect and the relevant should documents as mentioned under the “Required Documents” Section of this page, to any BPC customer care office, regardless of the location of the premises where power is required. Any omission of the supporting documents will render the application process incomplete.
- Upon receipt of the application file, the customer care officer will verify if all the information and documentation are in order, before submitting the request to be accessed and processed by the BPC technical team.
- Applicants will be issued with a BPC acknowledge receipt, this receipt will serve as proof of submission of the application and for inquiry referencing if the need arises.
- Within 21 days of receipt of your application, BPC will have your quotation/proforma invoice ready detailing the cost of installation and the payment terms.
- Visit the BPC customer care office where the application was filed and present the acknowledgment slip and collect the quotation slip. The Quotation remains valid for 30 days/ 1 month from the date of issue.
- The client will be required to pay the connection fee and present the supporting documentation as mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page to be validated by the BPC accountant/cashier office, when making payment and obtain a payment receipt. Security Deposit is paid upfront for conventional meter supply.
- Upon making payment the BPC technical team will undertake the connection and installation service, electricity supply will be possible within 21 days of payment for a direct service connection and 90 days where capital work is required. This is subject to wayleave and other approvals.
- Wiring of the customer’s installation is the customer’s responsibility; however, care should be taken to liaise with BPC during the installation wiring process. For villages still using conventional meters, provision should be made for an approved meter box. A roof entry box and a shackle are needed where an overhead service is required.
- When BPC has installed service and the customer is ready to take up supply, your electrician must book an installation inspection with BPC. The initial test is free any subsequent test will attract a fee. The BPC requires the presence of the person who wired the premises during the test.
- When the installation passes the inspection test, a certificate will be issued. If the customer has paid the Security deposit the power will be left on. When the installation fails the inspection, a re-inspection appointment should be made.

- Visit the Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) website then select, the “Customer Service” option located on the menu bar, then select “Online Services” on the dropbox, and then select either the “Individual Application for Supply of Electricity” or “Business Application for Supply of Electricity” on the extended menu.
- You will be redirected to either the BPC Individual Application for Supply of Electricity or BPC Business Application for Supply of Electricity online page.
- Accurately fill out all fields with a red asterisk, as there are mandatory and upload scanned and certified copies of the supporting documents as listed on the site. Any omission of such information and documents will render the application process incomplete and submission of the request via the BPC online platform will not be possible.
- Please ensure that all the information and supporting documentation are in order, before clicking on the “Submit” button.
- Upon receipt of the application file, the customer care officer will verify if all the information and documentation are in order, before submitting the request to be accessed and processed by the BPC technical team.
- Applicants will be issued with a BPC acknowledge receipt via email, which will serve as proof of submission of the application and for inquiry referencing if the need arises. If the email address is not provided by the applicant, the BPC will contact the client via phone.
- Within 21 days of receipt of your application, BPC will have your quotation/proforma invoice ready detailing the cost of installation and the payment terms.

For Bussiness Connection
- Completed application form.
- Where an application is made by letter, the customer's full details as well as those of the installation to be supplied, complete with the size of supply required, should be given.

Eligibility
- All residents (Individuals) of 18 years and above and Registered businesses/companies are eligible to apply.
Fees
- Applicants will be issued with a quotation receipt indicating the connection cost.
Validity
- The Quotation receipt is valid for 30 days/ 1 month from the date of issue, failure to make payment the quotation will be invalid and you will be required to reapply and obtain a new quotation.
- Electricity supply services will be provided forever as long as the subscriber pays his/her electricity bill for post-paid customers or purchase electricity tokens in time, in the case of pre-paid customers. Failure to pay the bill or buy the token in time will lead to disconnection of the electricity supply.
