Apply In-Person

1. To apply for Poultry Abattoir Support, the applicant should visit the nearest District Animal Production(DAP) Office. Use this link to view DAP address details Link
2. Applicants are required to collect and complete the LIMID 6 – Poultry Abattoir Application Form. Copies of this forms are available for free at the Enquiries Desk at any of the District Animal Production Office (DAP) or directly download it using this link; Link (Application form)
3. The completed Application form, attached to the supporting documents (as listed under the ‘Required Documents’ section of this page) should be submitted to DAP district extension offices.
4. The LIMID officer shall verify that all the necessary information and documents have been provided and that the applications comply with the selection criteria before they are submitted to the Committees (Ministry LIMID Committee) for assessment and processing, which is within one month.
5. If approved, beneficiaries will be registered with the LIMID support program, an animal production officer will contact the applicant in writing with details related to the status of the application and given further instruction on how to access the financial support.

Applicants should meet the following criteria to be eligible;

• Citizens eighteen (18) years and above.
• A cooperative which comprises a minimum of fifteen (15) members
• The support scheme targets small–scale poultry (broiler) producers;
• The group (cooperative) should develop a constitution and register with the Commissioner of Cooperatives or Registrar of Societies;
• The applicants shall undergo training in cooperative management conducted by the Division of Agricultural Cooperatives of the Ministry of Agriculture; and
• The cooperative shall slaughter a minimum of 100 000 birds per month.
  

No fee associated with the service

The beneficiary is expected to have completed a project within two (2) years after approval.

Application instructions.

• The maximum grant for the poultry abattoir package P4000 000.00
• All quotations must be obtained from registered/certified suppliers.
• The government will not exceed the maximum grant of P4000 000.00
• All applications must be routed through district extension offices
• All approved applicants shall sign a Memorandum of Agreement with the Botswana Government.
• Please note that giving false information may result in the disqualification of your application and/or prosecution

The Livestock Management and Infrastructure Development-LIMID Program is a Government program; which assists farmers with the building of abattoirs for safe and hygienic processing of poultry and aimed at improving livestock
