- The application for the Pharmacist Certificate of Registration shall be made to the Botswana Health Professions Council (BHPC) which is a body under the Ministry of Health. Ministry of Health and Wellness (MoH) Contact & Office Location
- Applicants are required to collect and complete the Application Form for BHPC Registration and fill out all required sections accurately. Forms are available at the Enquiries Desk at any of the BHPC offices or download via the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOH) website via this MOH Regulatory Service (Form is located under the Botswana Health Professions Council section) or directly download it using this BHPC Registration Form
- The application form should be completed in triplicate, attached to the supporting documentation as mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page, and should be delivered in person to the BHPC Registration Office. Any omission of the required documents or information will render the application incomplete.
- Upon receipt of the application, the BHPC officer will check for discrepancies or ineligibility in the application documents. If a discrepancy that cannot be immediately corrected exists in any of the documents, then the application and all the submitted documents will be returned to the applicant and should not be re-submitted until the discrepancy has been rectified/ corrected.
- If the BHPC officer is satisfied that all the requirements have been met for the application, he/she will register the application, and the applicant is issued with an acknowledgment slip containing details of the application.
- The application file will then be forwarded to the Botswana Health Professions Council committee board for assessment and evaluation.
- Applicants will then be summoned by the BHPC and required to take a written test and interview by the BHPC committee board.
- Notice of the decision (Approval, Deferral, or Rejection) for the application will be communicated to the applicant in writing or by phone.
- Successful applicants, who have passed the interview and examination, will be advised to pay an application fee.
- Pay the fees as per the authority's preferable mode of payment, and present the proof of payment to be verified by the BHPC officer/registrar, who shall then proceed to register the applicant and issue him/her the pharmacist registration certificate and practice license.
- The time frame for processing the application is within 2 weeks.
Required Documents
- Duly completed and signed BHPC Registration Form
- Certified copy of passport details (non-citizens) or Omang (citizens)
- Four passport-size photographs [there has to be an endorsement for true likeness]
- Certified evidence of change of name or surname [if applicable].
- Certified copy of the certificate of qualifications
- Certified copy of evidence of internship (for graduates who are registering for the first time) or transcript
- Current curriculum vitae
- Application letter
- Certified copy of Current Practicing License and Registration Certificate.
- Original certificate of good standing from previous registration body (not more than 6 months old)
- Two recent professional references (Originals in headed paper or letterhead, not more than 6 months.).
- All applicants from non-English Speaking Countries must show proof of proficiency in English (having passed the IELTS test and attained an overall score of 7 or greater)
- Certified copy of residence permit, or work permit or waiver (if applicable)
- Any other documents as may be deemed necessary or as may be prescribed by the Board
- Notes:
- All documents must be in English
- Every document must be certified by the Commissioner of Oath

Eligibility
- Health professionals (pharmacists) wishing to be entered into one of the health professions registers
Fees
- The application fee (P30) is paid after completing the examination, plus a practice license fee as prescribed.
Validity
- The validity of the Registration Certificate shall be mentioned on the document; however, the practice license as a pharmacist is subjected to annual renewal by paying an annual fee.

Instructions
Health professionals are required to be registered with the Ministry of Health.The registration process:
- Complete the application form and submit it to the Botswana Health Professions Council (BHPC).
- After the assessment of the application form by BHPC, you will be required to undertake an examination.
- Once you pass the examination the council will issue a practicing certificate.

- All Health professionals (Pharmacists) are required to be registered with the Botswana Health Professions Council (BHPC) which is a body under the Ministry of Health.
- It is illegal to employ a health professional who is not registered with BHPC or who does not have a valid practicing certificate as stipulated by the Health Professions Act (Cap 61.02)
