Apply In Person

1. Any individual desirous of exporting horticultural produce (Fruit and Vegetable) from Botswana is required to lodge an application well in advance of the actual exportation with the Permits Office at any of the Agribusiness Promotion Offices. 2. Submitted the relevant supporting documentation as listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page to be verified by the Authorized permit issuing officer. Any omission of the supporting documents will render the application process incomplete.
3. Upon being satisfied that all required information and documents have been provided for the application, The officer will complete, at the time of application, a permit form with specific details which include;
   • Quantities and type of crops to be exported
   • Border post of existing (Only one border post allowed per existing)
   • Country of produce been export
   • Endorsement at the border post
   • Complete a horticultural crop import permit from the country to be exported
   • Endorse the expiry date of the import permit from the country where the products are been exported.
   • Any other additional information as requested by the officer.
4. The issuing of a permit is free, but the applicants must apply for a Sanitary and Phytosanitary certificate at BWP 300.00.
5. The permit-issuing officer shall draw up the export permit to be issued to the exporter within one day.
6. Exporter will be required to state the means by which they can receive the export permit, either by post, Courier Company at their cost, or self-collect.
7. Where the Agribusiness Promotion office is not satisfied that the application meets the requirements for the application, it shall reject the application and notify the applicant thereof in writing, stating the reasons for the rejection.

• A certified copy of a valid National Identification card (Omang)
• An original and valid trading license
• An original and valid hawkers license
• A valid and original Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Certificate
• A Letter of Authorisation to apply on behalf of the Company.

• Exporters/farmers/ companies/businesses that desire to export horticultural produce (Fruit and Vegetable) from Botswana are eligible to apply.

• The issuing of a permit is free, but the applicants must apply for Sanitary and Phytosanitary certificate at BWP 300.00.

• The validity of the export permit shall be mentioned on the permit and shall remain valid for that stipulated period unless, revoked, cancelled, or suspended by the Authority.

The Purpose of this Licence is to regulate export horticultural produce (Fruit and Vegetable) that may affect the availability and price of the products in Botswana.
