Apply In-Person

1. Applicants should visit the Ministry of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs Department of Immigration and Citizenship, Departmental HQ, nearest Regional or District Immigration Offices, for the extension to stay visa application process, a week before the 90 days period lapses no the tourism visa, {see address details below}.
2. Submit the Justification letter requesting for extension of days along with the supporting documents {as listed under required document section below} for verification and processing.
3. Pay the processing fee at the immigration cash counter/office and obtain an acknowledgement receipt indicating the date of withdrawal of the application.
4. Applicants should re-visit the immigration office on the date of withdrawal of the application with their passport and the acknowledgement slip and present them to be validated by the immigration officer. If the application is successful an Extension of days sticker will be affix on your passport.
5. If your application is rejected, you will be required to leave the country as soon as possible or face deportation.

• Letter of support from host in Botswana.
• Covering letter from the applicant indicating the reasons for extension of days.
• One colored passport size photo.
• Certified copy of valid applicant’s passport information page.
• Two certified copies of valid passport pages showing movement (stamps of entering countries).
• Certified copy of Host’s Residence or Exemption Certificate Permit or Certified copies of valid national identity card (Omang).

• Visitors who have exhausted their 90 days period of visit in Botswana and wish to extend their stay qualify for this service.

• The processing fee is BWP500.00

• The extension stay visa will depend on the Department of Immigration and Citizenship office discretion.

• Foreign nationals are allowed to stay in Botswana for a period of 90 days without applying for a residence or work permit. If visitors want to stay in Botswana for longer than 90 days, they will have to apply for an extension to stay beyond the validity period.
