Bihar - Add or Delete Name in Ration Card


Procedure

Apply In-Person

  1. Ration Card holder should approach Circle Office/ S.D.O. Office to add or delete name in ration card.
  2. Link for contact : Link 1 and Link 2. Please select the district name under “Districts of Bihar” to reach selected district website.
  3. Please go to the respective office.
  4. Applicant shall obtain the form from the respective office (please pay for the form if required) Or a written/electronically typed application on A4 plain sheet as advised shall be used.
  5. Please submit the completed application along with required documents to the respective authority.
  6. Authorities after checking the submitted application along with attached documents will make entries and provide you record number for reference.
  7. Keep it safe for future reference.
  8. This application will be forwarded to the concerned Ward/ Grama Panchayath official for verification. The concerned official visits the house of the applicant for verification and approves the request, if the applicant is found eligible.
  9. The applicant is informed through SMS at various stages i.e., Advance intimation about date of visit of the official to his place of residence for verification of his application, Approval/Rejection of his application.
  10. After ground level verification ration card will be issued in 2 – 3 weeks as notified by the department



Apply Through Centre

  1. To apply through centres, the applicant has to visit the respective “CSC” centre. Please tap on the following link to locate the centre according to the respective district:link.
  2. Make sure to have the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  3. It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
  4. The operator will process the application online on the following site:portal.
  5. The operator will fill in all the necessary information in the application form told by the applicant.
  6. “Required Documents” will be scanned and uploaded by the operator in the centre.
  7. On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement. The applicant will also get a transaction number as a text message on their registered mobile number.
  8. Pay the fee as given in the “Fees” section of this page and collect the receipt.
  9. An ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile. Please keep track of the notification.
  10. Upon the satisfaction of the authorities, the name will be modified according to the application.
  11. Collect the updated ration card from the respective centre in a stipulated period of time or wait for it to arrive via post to the address mentioned while applying or issued as per the applicable norms within 60 days.

  • In case you are not able to provide any proof of residence, the Circle FSO/S.I./M.O. conducts spot inquiries by recording the statements of two independent witnesses

in your neighbourhood.

  • Local Certificate / Election Card / PAN / Driving license / Passport
  • Proof of Date of Birth(Birth Certificate/X Pass Certificate/declared/other)
  • Surrender Certificate in original (for inclusion, if any)
  • Death Certificate in case of death of a member in order to delete


  • Document required for Adding member on account of marriage
    • Marriage Certificate
    • Original Ration Card with husband’s name
    • Name Deletion Certificate from the parents of Bride
  • Document required for Adding New Born Child in Ration Card (above 5 years)
    • Birth Certificate issued by the local municipal body or competitive authority
    • Original ration card of the family with parent’s name
    • ID Proof of Parents such as PAN Card, Aadhaar Card

Eligibility

  • A valid ration card holder.
  • The applicant and his/her family must be Indian citizens and should be resident of the state.
  • The applicant or his family members must not possess any family card in any State in India (If they had one, it has to be withdrawn).
  • The applicant and members of the family must be close relatives.
  • New born above 5 years
  • Addition of member name after marriage

  • Usually Family identity card is valid for lifetime and will be renewed in 5 years or based on announcement.

Need for the Document

  • For implementation of the Targeted Public Distribution System(TPDS), Ration Card is being issued to all the heads of families, with details about family members included in the card. Based on their economic condition, people can buy goods like food grains, sugar and kerosene with the help of their ration cards.

  • Ration card is a mandatory document for all individuals in India. Addition of members should be made in order to avail the government benefits. It has to be renewed before it gets expired.
  • Ration card is essential to apply for passport, PAN card or a domicile certificate or to even get the name registered for electoral rolls to get a Voter ID.
