Apply In-Person:

1. For walk in services, visit the Customs head office and go the Customs Automated Processing System (CAPS) section.
2. Request for the application and fill it with correct information
3. Submit the form to the CAPS team for verification and processing
4. Provide a valid email address for communication between you and the CAPS
5. After you application has been processed, you will receive the CAPS ID number via the email address you provided.

Apply Online:

1. For electronic applications, obtain the application for CAPS ID form online through the government of Bermuda website: www.gov.bm/ or download it via this link:form
2. Print the form and fill it correctly
3. Provide a valid email address for communication between you and the CAPS, attach it to the application form
4. Send the complete application to the Department of customs thorough the email address provided in “Office Locations & Contacts” section below
5. After you application has been processed, you will receive the CAPS ID number via the email address you provided

• You must supply an email address in order to confirm the application for registration was successful, so that the Customs can inform you of your new CAPS ID. Applications without a valid email address will be rejected.
• This CAPS ID is unique to each importer and must be quoted on any documents presented to the Customs Department

• The CAPS trader identification number is used during the custom declaration and other situation where an identity of a trader has to be produced in Bermuda.
