How to Apply

1. You should head to the general management of taxes office, estate service cashier and purchase the tax stamp from the cashier at a cost of 1000 CFA. {Note; Tax stamps can also be purchased in all other tax centers in Benin}.
2. Then head to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce office, Trade and Regulatory Service (Importer Card) Office and;

   • Collect necessary forms and accurately fill them;
   • Make all necessary payment for the processing of the card at the cashier desk, upon which you will be issued with payment receipt {DGCI}.
   • Attach all the required documents (listed below under required documents section); and
   • Submit the application file to be verified and recorded by the attending staff and obtain the received treasure slip.

3. The application file will then be forwarded to the head of Trade and Regulatory Service (Importer Card) Office for further assessment, approval and signing.
4. After processing which is with 2-4 days the importer card will be made available to be issued to the applicant at the Trade and Regulatory Service office front desk.
5. Re- visit the office with your National identity card and the received treasure slip and collect the importer card, upon payment of the Import card fee.

Note:
The original supporting documents will be issued back to the applicant at the end of the processing period.

• Receipt of payment of CCIB contributions for the current year (original + simple copy)
• IFU registration certificate (original + simple copy)
• Extract from the trade register and movable property credit in case of modification (original + simple copy)
• 2 Identity photo ID
• Old Importer card (original + simple copy)
• Residence permit for foreigners (original + simple copy)
• Authorization to practice (simple copy) for an activity subject to specific regulations.
• Prove of Payment receipt {DGCI}.
• National identity card
• Criminal record extract (original + simple copy) less than 3 months
• IS or IRRP receipt for the current year (simple copy)
• Statutes registered for taxes for companies only (simple copy)
• Certified check for petroleum product distributors (original)

Note

• You can provide the GST payment receipt as a replacement for the IS / IRPP receipt and the license because it takes both into account.

• Such companies and individual are required to renew their registration {importer card} so as keep enjoying the incentive that come with being registered.
