Benin - Apply for a passport


Procedure

An applicant who wishes to obtain the Benin standard e-passport is expected to come for the e-passport interview with a Local Government letter of identification

Passport application forms with supporting documents are to be submitted at the passport office for further processing.

If it is done online, the applicant should print out a copy of the duly completed and signed application form to the application office for further processing.





Required Documents

  • An application form
  • A copy of your birth certificate along with the # 1 component or supplementary judgment together with the approval PV;
  • The national identity card and legalized copy;
  • A certificate or a certificate of residence in Benin
  • Proof of the profession (diploma, certificate of employment or completion of apprenticeship, certificate of education, trade register for merchant);
  • Four (04) photo color ID plain light colored background (light blue, light gray or beige);
  • An equivalent rights in force at the date of the application amount;
  • For married women: a photocopy legalized the strain of the marriage;
  • For minor under 18 years: parental permission legalized and signed by the father and mother of the minor;
  • In case of divorce: the judgment of divorce more legalized authorization of the parent with custody of the child;

Need for the Document

The ECOWAS passport is a common passport document. Currently the passport is issued by 10 of the 14 member states of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS)

These are Senegal, Nigeria,Niger, Cte d'Ivoire, Benin, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ghana and Togo.

It was created to facilitate the intra-regional travel of member states' citizens for periods of a maximum 90 days.

The passport can be used within the sub-region and is also recognized for international travel

If the pages in your passport are filled with either visas or entry and exit stamps, then you need to apply for a new passport, even if the passport has not expired.
