Benin - Apply for Renew of Ordinary Biometric Passport


Procedure

How to apply:
In person

  1. Visit the Directorate of Emigration and Immigration near you and obtain the application form or click the link below to download : (application form)
  2. Submit the completed form and the supporting document (listed below) to the attending official for verification and processing.
  3. Pay the application fees.
  4. Your biometric data (fingerprint, photo) will then be taken by an official at the office and you will be notified on when you should re-visit the office to collect the passport.
  5. You will then be issued with a receipt/acknowledgement slip which you should carry with you when collecting the passport.



Abroad Application:
Beninese residing in the following countries (listed below) should visit the consulates or embassies of Benin in these countries to file the application. (France, Italy, Germany, Russia, China, the United States of America, Canada, Gabon, South Africa and Brazil)



Required Documents

  • Original and copy of Birth certificate
  • Original and Photocopy of the valid national identity card
  • Proof of profession if there is a change of profession (The payment slip, The professional card, The diploma certificate, The work certificate, The work certificate, The school certificate, The student card)
  • Certificate of residence (less than three months old) if there is a change of address
  • Two (02) colour passport photos on a white background
  • Old passport and the photocopy of the first three (03) pages
  • Written parent consent (minors under 18)
  • Certificate of residence (less than 1 month old) if there is a change of address (where applicable)
  • Beninese nationality certificate (where applicable)
  • Extract of the marriage certificate (applicant that are naturalization by marriage)
  • Copy of the decree granting Beninese nationality
  • Any other document required by the authority.
