The leaners driver license is issued as an authority to allow a person to drive a motor vehicle while undergoing training on a road in Barbados.
No person will be allowed to drive a motor vehicle on road in Barbados unless he is the holder of a valid driving license or a learners permit endorsed in respect of that class of vehicle.
Any person training to drive a motor vehicle on a road is required by law to carry his/her learner driver license or learners permit, and on being so required by a police officer, produce it for examination.
The leaner driver licence shows compliance with Barbados traffic laws regarding driving.
A Driving License is an official document certifying that the holder is suitably qualified to drive a motor vehicle or vehicles. Under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, no person can drive a motor vehicle in any public place unless he holds a valid Driving License or learners permit issued to him, authorizing him to drive a vehicle of that particular category.
It is illegal to drive without wearing a seat belt and any children under the age of 5 must be in a car seat.
Drink driving is an offence although having unopened alcohol in the vehicle is not.
The speed limit is 60 kilometers or 37 mph per hour although it depends which roads you are using as the limit varies. The limits are usually clearly displayed on road signs.
