Apply In-Person

1. The Applicant must complete a Client Registration with a Customer Service Representative “CSR” if not already completed.
2. The applicant will have to take a photo with a CSR (All persons renewing will need to take a new photo in the first year).
3. The applicant must Inform the CSR whether he is renewing for 1 or 3 years and sign when the CSR asks.
4. The applicant should then pay the cashier and depending on his location, he will receive his driver’s licence or a receipt to return and collect as per “Turn Around Times” outlined below.
   

• Expired Driver’s Licence
• Passport
• National Insurance Card
• Non-Bahamians should present their Passport, a permit to Reside, issued by The Bahamas Immigration Department (Work Permit, Residency Permit, Spousal Permit or Permanent Resident Permit), or any other proof of residency and a copy of a Driver’s Licence.

Applicant must have an existing Bahamian driver’s licence.

The Fees for

• One year is BS$20.00.
• Three years is BS$60.00.

A driver’s licence must be renewed at the end of your birth month after one or three years.

Once all the requirements are met, the renewed licence can be issued as follows:

• New Providence Stadium Office and Freeport Office – SAME DAY
• Carmichael Rd Office – NEXT DAY
• All Abaco Offices – ONE WEEK
• All Eleuthera Offices – ONE WEEK

A Bahamian driver's license permits a person to drive legally in the Bahamas. Driving without a valid driver's license is illegal, so drivers should always check that their licenses are current.

Applicant must notify the cashier immediately of any changes to their driver’s licence (i.e. name changes, physical changes, amendments) and must provide all supporting documents (i.e. passport, marriage certificate, divorce document etc.) when changing any information on licence.

Please explain what are other uses of obtaining this document/certificate.
e.g. Birth Certificate can be used as proof of identity.
