Apply In-Person:
- To get a Letter of Good Standing from National Insurance Board, interested party must first register the name of the business with NIB. The procedure for that is explained here [Place link to Bahamas - Register Business in National Insurance Board]
- Then the applicant has to visit any nearest office of the National Insurance Board (NIB) in his/her state of residence. The address and contact details of branch offices across the country can be found in the following link address details
- Visit the office and get an application form to get a Letter of Good Standing from the concerned officer.
- Alternatively, you can also download the form by clicking on the following Link to Form
- Complete the application form with appropriate information under relevant sections.
- Attest it with your signature once completed.
- Once completed filling the application form, make sure that you have attached all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
- Then, submit it in person to the relevant authority at the NIB office.
- After submission, your application along with the attached documents will be forwarded for further verifications.
- Once the internal process is over, a Letter of Good Standing is issued by the NIB verifying that the applicant’s account is current and that the Employer does not owe NIB.

Instructions
- Have a current account with the correct rate of contribution payments.
- Contribution payments must be paid for all employees.
- If collecting the Letter of Good Standing on behalf of an Employer, an authorization letter is required.

Need for the Document
A Letter of Good Standing is issued by the National Insurance Board (NIB) verifying that an Employer’s account is current and that NIB has no objection with issuing a letter stating that the Employer does not owe NIB.
- The National Insurance programme is a partner with employers in advancing the economic security of workers of The Bahamas.
- When employers pay contributions on behalf of workers, they are released from the obligation of paying full wages when employees are off sick or on maternity leave, and they are excused from liability when job-related injuries and diseases happen.
Other uses of the Document/Certificate
Once registered, the employer/ self-employed are assigned a unique nine (9) digit number which can be used for payment and recording of contribution payments.
