Bahamas - Get Duplicate Boat Registration Certificate


Procedure

Apply In-Person

  1. To get a duplicate copy of the Boat Registration Certificate, applicant has to submit a request letter to the Port Department of Bahamas. Contact Link
  2. If the reason for requesting a duplicate certificate is because the original got stolen, then a copy of the police FIR must be attached to the request letter.
  3. If applicant satisfies the New Providence Port Authority that the original certificate has been lost or defaced, the Authority will, on payment of the appropriate fee issue to him a duplicate certificate or licence.
  4. The applicant shall collect the Certificate of Registration after acknowledging receipt from the Port Chairman who will sign, seal and stamp it.

  • Bill of Sale/Custom's Declaration

Eligibility

Only owners of a lost/stolen or defaced Boat Registration Certificate can apply for a duplicate.



Fees

Duplicate Certificate of Registration Fee:
For every copy of a certificate - $ 10.00
Duplicate Licence fee - $10.00



Validity

The duplicate copy will have the same validly as the original Registration Certificate/License.

It is required to obtain a duplicate copy of Boat Registration in case the original was lost/stolen.

It is important to note that according to the Boat Registration Rules, “If at any time after the issue of a duplicate certificate or licence, the original certificate shall be found, the person to whom the original was issued shall, if it is not in his possession, take all reasonable steps to obtain possession of it and shall return it as soon as may be to the New Providence Port Authority”.
