Bahamas - Apply for Wreck Removal Insurance


Procedure

Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for Wreck Removal Insurance, the applicant has to visit any nearest office of the Bahamas Maritime Authority. The address and contact details can be found in the following Address Details link
  2. Visit the office and get an application form for Wreck Removal Insurance. Or tap on the following link to download it: Application Form
  3. Complete the application form with appropriate information under relevant sections. Note: Persons authorised to complete and sign this form include the vessel’s Owner, Manager, Officer, Secretary and Attorney-in-fact. Where applicable, a notarised Power of Attorney must be given.
  4. After filling the application form, make sure to attach all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
  5. Then, submit it in person to the relevant authority at the office.
  6. Pay the fees as per the authority’s quote.
  7. The application along with the attached documents will be forwarded for further verifications.
  8. Once all the internal processes are over, the applicants will be notified with the further instructions regarding the registration.

  • Certificate of Insurance or other Financial Security
  • Copy of International Tonnage Certificate (to be included for non-Bahamian ships)

Eligibility

Persons authorised to complete and sign the application form for Wreck Removal Insurance certificate include, the vessel’s Owner, Manager, Officer, Secretary and Attorney-in-fact. Where applicable, a notarised Power of Attorney must be given.
