Bahamas - Apply for Spouse Resident Permit (License)


Procedure

Apply In-Person

  1. The Applicant must submit an application form to the Director of Immigration.
  2. Visit the following link for Contact Details: Link
  3. The Applicant can download the Form through this Form Link
  4. Complete the application form with all details.
  5. The Applicant should submit a letter of request with signature.
  6. Submit the completed form attached with the Request letter and documents to the Department of Immigration with the prescribed fees.




Required Documents

  • A letter of request signed by the Bahamian spouse and addressed to the Director of Immigration, detailing the spouse's name and the length of the couple's marriage
  • A copy of the bio-data page of the applicant's passport.
  • Bahamian spouse’s passport.
  • Two passport-sized identical colour photographs of the applicant, with the applicant’s name printed on the reverse side (photographs must not be more than 6 months old).
  • A police certificate of character covering 5 years of residence, issued not more than 6 months prior to the submission of the application.
  • An original certified copy of the marriage certificate.
  • A medical certificate dated not more than 30 days prior to the submission of the application.
  • For extension Resident Spouse Permit, request letters must clearly indicate that it is for an extension.

Eligibility

  • PR Extension of the Resident Spouse Permit for those who have been married to a Bahamian national for less than 5 years (those who have been married for 5 years or more may seek for citizenship).
  • The applicant and his or her spouse must live together.



Fees

  • There is a non-refundable processing fee of BS$100.00.
  • Once the application has been approved, the applicant must pay an additional BS$250.00.

Currently only Permit Renewals can be processed through Online Portal.
Online Portal cannot be used for

  • First time applicant.
  • If you are applying for different type of Permit on renewal.
  • If you are applying for a replacement permit.
  • If you need to correct data on a permit previously obtained.
  • if you are seeking for a reconsideration on a previously applied permit.
