Bahamas - Apply for Public Service Driver License


Procedure

Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for a Public Service Driver’s Licence, the applicant has to successfully complete an interview and practical driving test.
  2. Visit the following link for Contact Details: Link.
  3. The applicant can download the application form from the following Form Link
  4. On successful completion of the interview and practical test, the applicant must submit the application and supporting documents as listed in the” Required Documents “section to the Road Traffic Department, Drivers Licence Unit.
  5. The Clerk will verify the documents and the Photo Clerk will take the photograph and signature of the applicant and issue a receipt to the applicant for payment.
  6. The Applicant will then have to make payment to the Cashier, and then the Driver’s License Clerk will issue the Public Service Drivers Licence to the applicant.

  • Three passport size photos (with necktie (males) or scarf (females))
  • National Insurance Card
  • Police Traffic Character Reference
  • Police Criminal Character Reference
  • Eye Examination Certificate

Eligibility

The Applicant has to:

  • Successfully pass Interview Process
  • Successfully pass practical exam
  • Bahamian Citizen
  • Possess a Drivers Licence for more than 3 years
  • Bahama Host Certified
  • Must be 21 years or older



Fees

The License fees for Public Service Driver’s Licence are related to the category of license.

  • Taxicab – BS$40.00
  • Livery – BS$50.00
  • Tour Car – BS$50.00
  • Omnibus – BS$75.00



Validity

The validity of the Public Service licence expires at the end of the Licence holder’s birth month.

Processing Time

The Processing time varies based on the date set for interview and practical test.  Once applicant has successfully completed the interview and practical driving test, the licence can be issued on the same day that you visit the Road Traffic Department.
