- The applicant should Complete the Australian citizenship General eligibility application form
- The applicant then Lodges the application form to the department with certified copies of the required documents and the correct fee.
- The applicant is then provided with a date and time for citizenship appointment.
- After the documents have been checked and the identity verified the applicant then sits a citizenship test.
- When a decision is made on the application, the applicant is notified in writing.
- After receiving the notification that your application has been successful you will need to attend a citizenship ceremony and make a pledge of commitment to complete the process of becoming an Australian citizen.

Validity
- Australian citizenship is for life.
- Citizen is valid as long as a person does not denounce it.
- However a person can lose citizen due to some circumstances for instance
- if authority realizes citizenship was given false; or
- if an applicant submitted false documents at the time of applying; among others

Need for the Document
You become an Australian citizen by being to Australian parents or permanent resident parents, or when you apply and are accepted for citizenship. Becoming an Australian citizen means you call Australia home with all the privileges and responsibilities of a person who was born here.
A decision on your application for citizenship will only be made after you have lodged a completed application form together with the required documents and fee.
