Apply In-Person:

1. The applicant willing to apply for a trade license must apply to the concerned GUWAHATI DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT link.
2. The applicant can get the application form by visiting the office.
3. Applications are to be made to the Commissioner not more than 90 days in case of before the place is used for such purpose, not less than 30 days in case of Municipalities, and not less than 45 days in case of Corporation before the place is used for such purpose.
4. On receipt of the application, the Commissioner shall scrutiny the suitability of the place, the possibility of any danger in life or health or property is the livelihood of any nuisance being created, etc., the applicability of provisions of other Acts and after satisfaction shall issue a demand for payment of license fee within 7 days.
5. The License fee of Rupees One Hundred must be paid online.
6. The trade license is valid for one financial year from the date of receiving the license.
7. Trade License will be issued within a week after remittance of fee with conditions to adhere.
8. The applicant can download the trade license from the registered email id.

Apply Online:

1. To Apply for Trade License, the applicant has to make the application online via – link
2. The applicant has to click the “Online Trade License”
3. The applicant has to click the “New Trade license”.
4. Enter all the necessary details in the application form.
5. Also, upload all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
6. Enter the contact details and click the “Get OTP” button.
7. Enter the OTP and click the “Verify” button.
8. After completing all the details click “Submit for secure online payment”.
9. Pay the fee online mode and click the “Submit” button.
10. Authorities will check the submitted application and announce the fees/charges. Please pay and get the receipt.
11. This application will be moved to the respective authority of the Zone for field verification of the site.
12. After field verification, the authority will submit a verification report before the trade license committee.
13. If the Trade license committee observes that all norms are complied with by the applicant, authorities will issue an order to make applicable payment.
14. The applicant shall make the payment as advised.
15. After all the above steps, the applicant gets a notification from the department. Please follow the notification to get the license.
16. If the Trade license committee observes that all norms are not complied with by the applicant, the application by rejected.
17. This entire process can be completed within 3 – 4 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

Apply through CSC

1. To Apply for Trade License, the applicant has to approach the nearest CSC center – link
   • NOTE: The applicant has to select a state, district, and block name from the drop-down menu, or the applicant has to click on their respective district to find nearby centers.
2. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
3. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
4. The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
5. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
6. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
7. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. #If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
8. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
9. This application will be moved to the respective authority of the Zone for field verification of the site.
10. After field verification, the authority will submit a verification report before the trade license committee.
11. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
12. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
13. The applicant will get a license by visiting the center.
14. This entire process can be completed within 3 – 4 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
