Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Banking License, the applicant has to approach National Bank of Angola link
2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the authorized officer.
3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form (Incomplete application forms are not accepted)
4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
7. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
9. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
10. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
11. The BNA will review the application thoroughly. This process includes evaluating the fitness and propriety of the bank's management, directors, and shareholders.
12. The bank's financial stability, business plan, and adherence to legal requirements will also be assessed.
13. The BNA may conduct an on-site inspection of the bank's premises, operations, and systems to ensure they comply with regulatory standards.
14. If the application is successful and meets all the requirements, the BNA will grant the applicant a banking license. This license gives him/her the legal authorization to operate as a bank in Angola.
15. After obtaining the banking license, the applicant will need to continue complying with ongoing regulatory requirements, submit regular reports to the BNA, and adhere to operational and prudential regulations.
16. This entire process can be completed within 2 – 3 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

• The applicant must have a minimum paid-up capital of 7.5 billion kwanzas (around US\$100 million).
