Andhra Pradesh - Renew Certificate Of Vehicle Registration


Procedure

Apply In-Person

  1. To renew your vehicle registration certificate in Andhra Pradesh the applicant has to approach the RTO office of his area. Following link can provide you information related to the list of RTO office : Contacts Link
  2. Also make sure you have all the necessary documents to process the application.
  3. The applicant should make sure they are eligible for applying for this procedure.

  6. Application forms can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices
  7. Submit the form with all the documents to the counter. The person will verify the form and mark the fees to be paid.
  8. Pay the fees at the cash counter.
  9. Produce the vehicle for inspection.
  10. Once the inspection is through, the inspector will verify the engine and chassis numbers.
  11. You will get an Acknowledgement slip with which you can collect the updated documents next day or the day mentioned in the slip

Apply through State Portal

  1. Application to renew Contract Carriage Maxi Cab permit can be made through : Online Portal
  2. Please click the “REGISTRATION SERVICES” link that is displayed under the “Registration” section of the screen.
  3. In the next screen, please click on the “Renewal” option and hit “NEXT”.
  4. In the next screen, enter registration number followed by details of Aadhaar or Voter id and Select appropriate options and hit “NEXT”.
  5. You will be given a new screen to enter details.
  6. You will be taken to a screen where you have to choose the day and time that you are planning to visit the RTO office related to the application and click “Next” button that is displayed on the bottom of the screen.
  7. Please follow the instructions appropriately that are displayed in the next screens for filling the application forms and uploading required documents.
  8. Take printout of the application form including Acknowledgement form and go to nearest RTO office before 11:30 a.m. and submit the application to the RTO official. Authorities will advice the fee amount to be paid. On the appropriate counter pay the fees and submit the application and documents to process the application further.

Eligibility

  • Owner of the vehicle can apply for renewal of RC.
  • The owner of the Non transport vehicle should apply for renewal of Registration Certificate after Completion of 15 years from the date of original registration. The registration should be renewed prior to 60 days of the expiry of the registration.

Validity

  • The Non-Transport Category vehicle is renewed for 5 years.
  • The Transport Category Vehicle is renewed for 1 year.
  • Renewal should be made not more than 60 days before the date of its expiry

No person shall drive any Motor Vehicle and no owner of Motor Vehicle shall cause or permit the vehicle to be driven in any public place or any other place, unless the vehicle is registered in accordance with Chapter 4 of IMV Act 1988.

Need for the Document

  • Vehicle registration's purpose is to establish clear ownership and to tax motorist or vehicle owners. It is a requirement by the state.
  • As per the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, all vehicles either transport or non-transport should renew their registration of vehicle after a period of time as allowed.
  • For Non transport type vehicle like car, bike etc. need to be renewed after 15 years and 5 years afterwards.
  • For transport type vehicles like bus the renewal is required for every year.
  • For as long as it is considered road worthy by the department.

Information which might help

  • While applying - Documents can be made in duplicate if the vehicle is held under an agreement of Hire-purchase / Lease / Hypothecation and Duplicate copy with the endorsement of the Registering Authority to be returned to the Financier simultaneously on Registration of motor vehicle.
  • Make sure all lights and horn are in good condition. Also, the vehicle should look neat and clean.
