Apply In-Person:

1. Visit the registry office of the municipality in which you are in to present your request verbally
2. At the service desk, present your family book for verification
3. The official at the service desk will validate the family book and if it is correct will continue to producing the family status sheet
4. Wait for a while as the process continues and you will be issued with the family civil status card

How the family book is issued:

• When celebrating or transcribing the marriage, the registrar gives the spouses a family record book showing their union.
• The family book is kept by the head of the family, who is responsible for keeping it up to date.
• Failure to respect this responsibility will expose any head of the family to penalties by the application of article 228 of the penal code.
