Alberta - Apply for Tobacco Importer Licence


Procedure

Apply In-Person:

  1. To apply for a Tobacco Importer License, the applicant has to submit an application form to the Tax Revenue Administration (TRA). Here is the contact Link
  2. The applicant will need to submit a tobacco license application along with a tobacco license application (Schedule A). Click on the following links to the application form Link and Schedule A.
  3. Fill out the application forms with all the relevant details.
  4. The applicant may need to pay fees; these details will be informed by the respective authorities. For more details about fees is mentioned in the “Fees” section of this page.
  5. Submit the application form in-person to the address mentioned under the “Office Locations and Contacts” section of this page.
  6. Once the applicant submits the application TRA will send a copy of the Tobacco Collector agreement, this must be signed by an authorized representative in the presence of a witness, submit this document to the TRA.
  7. The applicant can find information on how to authorize a representative under the “Information that might help” section of this page.
  8. Once the Tobacco collector agreement has been signed and approved by the TRA, the applicant shall receive their license by mail.
