Alabama - Get Manufactured Housing Survey


Procedure

Apply by Mail

  1. To Get Manufactured Housing Survey, the applicant has to approach the U.S. Census Bureau Economic Indicators Division link
  2. The applicant has to download the survey form from the following link
  3. The applicant has to fill all the details in the application form.
    NOTE: The applicant can contact the Residential Construction Branch for completing the survey at: 1–800–845–8244. Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern time.
  4. For completing this also refer the sample survey form which is mentioned in the “Sample Documents” section of this page.
  5. Make sure that the applicant has to attach all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  6. Also take the copy of the application form for the reference.
  7. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  8. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the office mail address.
  9. The mailing address is mentioned in the “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this page.
  10. Once the verification process gets completed, the applicant gets the notification from the officer through mail or SMS.
  11. If the officer is not satisfied with the verification process, the respective officer will come for inspection.
  12. The fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
  13. Once all the process gets done, the applicant gets the User name and Password through email.
    NOTE: This User name and Password is for the applicant to login the portal to upload the survey report, the details is mentioned in “Apply online” section below.
  14. The processing time for this procedure is up to 15 – 25 days.

  1. To upload the manufactured survey report, the applicant has to use the following link

  2. The applicant has to enter the user ID and password, click the “login” button.
  3. The applicant has to enter the survey details and click the “Submit”.
  4. Also, the applicant gets the notification for their next updating report through SMS or mail.
  5. The processing time for this procedure is within a minute.

Need for the Document

  • The Manufactured Homes Survey (MHS) is conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau and it is sponsored by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Monthly MHS produces estimates of the average sales price for new manufactured homes placed/sold or intended for sale by geographical region and size of home.
  • Additionally, it also produces the estimates of total shipments on a monthly basis at a national level for homes sold and for-sale for residential use, and non-residential or other uses. On an annual basis.
  • The average sales price is estimated at the state level. Estimates of average and median square feet at the region level are also produced.

Sample design:

  • The monthly sample for MHS is selected from a list of HUD-inspected manufactured home shipments provided to the Census Bureau by the Institute for Building Technology and Safety (IBTS).
  • Due to missing dealer information, not all home sections shipped in a given month may be eligible for sampling. These sections are removed from the frame until the required dealer information is obtained.
