Alabama - Get Apostille Index Card (Court)


Procedure

Apply In-Person:

  1. To Get Apostille Index Card (Court), the applicant the applicant has to approach the United States Court link
    NOTE: Search by address, city, state or ZIP Code and click the “Location” button.
  2. The applicant has to download the application form from the following link
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  4. Make sure that the applicant has to attach all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  6. After completing the form take a print-out in stock paper and cut into (3” ×5”)
  7. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the nearest court.
  8. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  9. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  10. Once all the verification process is completed, the applicant will get the card through mail.
  11. The processing time for this procedure is up to 15 days.

Need for the Document

  • An Apostille Index card is simply a certification of Document issued by a legal or registered authority in a country. If a document is Apostilled it shows that the document is verified and it is legal to use in the country to which it is Apostilled. For each country there is a different Apostille. List of countries where the Apostille is Accepted as the highest order of legalization are known as The Hague Nation Convention.

  • The documents which are apostilled to a country such as Germany can be used in the other country such as Poland, because both nations will fall under the Hague nation list.
  • No need to get Attestation from the Embassy of the destination country on the document which is Apostilled. Because, apostille is accepted as the highest level of legalization in a country which is in the Hague Convention.
  • However, if the Apostilled document is older than six months then we should get the documents newly Apostilled once again.
