1. You can notify the Driver's License Division about your new address by post. State your complete name, your driver's license number and your new address in your letter and send them to:

3. Pay the duplicate fee.

Your driver's permit is valid for four years after it is issued, you can find the expiration date on the permit.

The permit may be renewed at any time within 60 days prior to expiration at your local Probate Judge or license Commissioner Office.

Alabama law grants a grace period of 60 days after expiration date of a driver's permit for the purpose of driver permit renewal and the driver permit shall be valid for this time period.

Change of address:

After changing your address within Alabama, you have 30 days to notify the Driver's License Division. If you wish to change the address stated on your license, you may apply at your probate judge or local license commissioner's office. A duplicate fee will be charged for a corrected permit.
