ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person :

  1. To apply for an International Driver License in Himachal Pradesh the applicant has to approach Office of Secretary, State Transport Authority, Directorate of Transport, Parivahan Bhawan, Shimla-171004.
  2. Application form in Form 4-A is required. Application form can be obtained from the following link : Form
  3. The applicant should make sure they are eligible for applying for international driving license by reading through the eligibility criteria that has been listed out under the “Eligibility” section of this page.
  4. Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down under the “Required Document” section of this page.
  5. Application forms can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that can be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
  6. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
  7. After checking the correctness of the application and other appropriate required document the application will be processed.

Apply Online - Himachal Pradesh Apply International Driver License Online with Images

  1. Visit the following official portal: online portal.
  2. Now a new page will open, select the state from the menu of the search box.
  3. After selecting the state, click on “apply for vehicle related services” in the main menu.
  4. Now open the required application instruction and click the “continue” button.
  5. Now, click on the “process” button to proceed further.
  6. Select the relevant option and upload required documents.
  7. Select the “Fee Payment” and click on “Next” to continue for fee payment.
  8. The applicant will also get the appointment date for visiting the RTO office to process the application.
  9. Take the printout of the application form including the Acknowledgement form and go to the RTO office before 11:30 a.m. and submit the application to the RTO official.
  10. Collect the license from the RTO office in a stipulated period of time.



Apply through Centres:

  1. To apply through centres, the applicant has to visit the respective “CSC” centre. Please tap on the following link to locate the centre according to the respective district: link.
  2. Make sure to have the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  3. An application form can be obtained through the kiosk operator upon visiting the centre.
  4. It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
  5. The operator will process the application online.
  6. On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement.
  7. Pay the fee as given in the “Fees” section of this page and collect the receipt.
  8. After the application form is processed, an enquiry officer will make a thorough verification regarding the documents submitted along with the form.
  9. Collect the acknowledgment slip after submitting the form.
  10. Use the acknowledgment slip to get the certificate in a stipulated period of time.

  2. 3 to 4 of Passport size photographs (carry more just in case)
  3. A valid permanent driver’s license with validity beyond 1 year. If your license is going to expire in less than a year, you will have to get it renewed and then apply for the IDP.
  4. A valid passport which expires only a year later.
  5. A valid visa to the country you are going to visit.
  6. Air Tickets (Optional).
  7. Aadhaar Card
  8. A medical certificate in Form 1-A : Form 1- A
  9. Fitness certificate
  10. Attested copy of the permanent address proof
  11. A self - attested letter to the Zonal RTO requesting to authenticate International Driving Permit

International Driving License is valid for a period of not more than one year from the date of issue, as the case may be, or till the validity of the driving license, whichever is earlier.

  1. One has to get the International Driving License to drive in overseas country
  2. An International Driving Permit is a permit given to existing license holders if he/she wishes to travel abroad and drive there. It is only issued by Government of that country of which the applicant is a citizen.
  3. An International Driving License is an official document certifying that the holder is suitably qualified to drive a motor vehicle at other Countries.
