Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. The RTA or Regional Transport Authority is the government authority that deals with providing International Driving Permit. One can apply their International driving license in their Regional Transport Authority Office.
   
2. Please visit the RTA between 10 am and 12.30 pm because if you visit before or after this time the counter that issues coupons will be closed and you will have to return the next day.

13. Take the forms and fill the details. While entering your details please enter them as exactly mentioned in your license and passport.
    
14. Now, attach a photo on the health certificate and take it to a doctor then the doctor will sign across your photo and also make a stamp impression.
    
15. Now, come back to the RTO office and put these papers together and take it to the officer. Here the officer will also ask for the originals, he will cross check your passport and license and when satisfied, will stamp Verified : Original. He will issue a token number too.
    
16. With that number you need to observe an electronic board that reads which token number is being called and which counter that applicant needs to go to. So, wait for your turn to collect it

Apply Online - Daman and Diu Apply International Driver License Online with Images

1. First one has to make sure that all the required documents are in hand to apply online.
   
2. In order to apply for online, please follow the link : online portal
3. Please select "Online Services" from the menu and click on "Driver License Related Services".
4. You will be taken to a new screen where you have to select “Daman and Diu” in the drop down menu against “Please select the State from where the service is to be taken”.
5. In the next window, please click “Apply Online” to select “Services on Driving License” option
   
6. In the new screen please select “Daman and Diu” from the drop down menu and hit “Continue”
   
7. Please select appropriate option and fill in information prompted for, then click “Proceed” to get the new page to apply online by filling the details prompted and upload required documents to process the application.
   
8. Please take printout of Acknowledgement. Go to the RTO Office and submit the documents to process further
   
9. You can take printout of online application form with the help of the link: please follow the link online portal link
   
10. Select “Daman and Diu” in the drop down menu against “Please select the State from where the service is to be taken”
    
11. In the next window, please click “Download Forms” to select “Print application form” option
    
12. Please enter your application number in the next window and hit “Submit” to follow the next window to get the printout.

14. Please click “Appointment (Slot Booking)” to select “Driving Skill Test” option
    
15. In the new window select appropriate option and fill in prompted details and hit submit to process your request to book appointment.
    
    

Apply through Centres:

1. To Obtain an International Driving Licence in Daman & Diu, the applicant shall visit the nearest CSC/Tehsil Centre. Find contacts to CSC centres in the link provided:Link
2. Procure the mandatory application form from the concerned centre and fill it up with the necessary details required for the license.
3. Make sure to attach all the "Required Documents" along with the application form before submission.
4. Provide authorized signatory and photograph, wherever applicable.
5. Make the requisite payment required for the process (if applicable).
6. Now, submit the application to the office of the concerned centre and obtain the acknowledgement slip.
7. After successful verification, the International Driving License will be issued by the concerned authority.
8. Obtain the license from the concerned CSC centre by showing the acknowledgement slip.

Required Documents

1. 3 to 4 of Passport size photographs (carry more just in case)
   
2. A valid permanent driver’s license with validity beyond 1 year. If your license is going to expire in less than a year, you will have to get it renewed and then apply for the IDP.
   
3. A valid passport which expires only a year later.
   
4. A valid visa to the country you are going to visit.
   
5. Air Tickets (Optional).
   
6. Aadhaar Card
   
7. Health certificate by a medical practitioner.
   
8. Fitness certificate
   
9. Attested copy of the permanent address proof
   
10. A self - attested letter to the Zonal RTO requesting to authenticate International Driving Permit

12. Should be duly filled and submitted at the Zonal RTO, failure to do so will lead to rejection of your International Driver’s License application.

Eligibility

• You should have a valid driving license to apply.
  
• The validity (expiry) of such DL should have more than one year
  
• valid visa to the country you are going to visit
  

Fees

• International Driver License Fee - 500 INR
  

Validity

• Valid for tenure of 1 year from the date of issuance. After which your DL has to be renewed again, which can be done from nearest RTO if within the country or at the Indian Embassy, if residing in foreign.

• One has to get the International Driving License to drive in overseas country
  
• An International Driving Permit is a permit given to existing license holders if he/she wishes to travel abroad and drive there. It is only issued by Government of that country of which the applicant is a citizen.
