Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. One can apply for the International driving license in the Regional Transport Authority Office. Please tap the following link for office contact: contact.
2. Please visit the RTO between 10 am and 12.30 pm and get an IDP application Form.
3. Also, take a template for a Health Certificate by a medical practitioner.
4. Take the forms and fill in the details. Now, attach a photo on the health certificate and take it to a doctor then the doctor will sign across the photo and also make a stamp impression.
5. Now, come back to the RTO office and put these papers together and take them to the officer. Here the officer will also ask for the originals, and will cross check the passport and license and when satisfied, will stamp Verified : Original. Also, will issue a token number.
6. With that number the applicant needs to observe an electronic board that reads which token number is being called and which counter that applicant needs to go to. So, wait for the turn to collect it.

Apply through Centres:

1. To apply through centres, the applicant has to visit the respective “CSC” centre. Please tap on the following link to locate the centre according to the respective district: link.
2. Make sure to have the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
3. It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
4. The operator will process the application online.
5. On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement.
6. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection if any, will be conveyed to the applicant through an SMS.
7. If verified, the license will be hand delivered or sent through post to the address mentioned while applying in a stipulated period of time.

Apply Online - Chandigarh Apply International Driver License Online with Images

• In order to apply for online, please follow the link : online portal
• Please select "Online Services" from the menu and click on "Driver License Related Services".
• You will be taken to a new screen where you have to select “Chandigarh” in the drop down menu against “Please select the State from where the service is to be taken”.
• In the next screen click on "Apply Online" option on left menu of screen and choose the appropriate option.
• Fill the application form in the above given site ,upload required proofs, take printout of the application form including Acknowledgement form and go to nearest RTO office before 11:30 a.m.
• If your address has changed then you have to get NOC certificate from your old RTO office and then apply online for license renewal, print forms and go to new RTO office.

Need for the Document

This procedure provides you information about how to obtain an International Driver License (IDL). An International Driving Permit (IDP) allows the holder to drive a private motor vehicle in the country other than the one who issued the permit. This document must be accompanied by a valid license from the home country to be valid. An IDP is usually slightly larger than a standard passport and translated in multiple languages of the holders normal driver's license.
