PROCESS FOR CITIZENS & NON CITIZENS OF NORWAY – FOR BOTH WHO LIVE IN NORWAY AND OVERSEAS:

I. Apply in Norway
a. Apply in-person
  1. Applicant shall apply in-person at the local police station to get a PCC.
  2. Link for contact: Contact information for PCC
  3. Go to the respective office. Don’t forget to take the required copy of documents along with originals to the office.
  4. Application forms can be obtained from the respective office on visit or use the link to download one: Application forms
  5. Please follow as per authorities guidelines and submit the completed application along with documents. Applicant should pay for any charges if required as advised.
  6. This application will be processed by respective department.
  7. The certificate can be collected from the office where applicant applied in-person upon notification or issued as per norms.


II. Applying process – overseas
a. Apply through Mail(Post)
  1. Applicant has to apply by post to the police station of the district where they last lived in Norway to obtain PCC. Please find the address provided below.
  2. Application forms can be obtained from the respective office on visit or use the link to download one: Application Forms
  3. Once the application is filled in, please attach the completed application,required documents and fee paid details.
  4. This application received will be processed by respective department.
  5. The certificate will be delivered to the applicant as per norms applicable.

  • Citizen proof.

Foreign national

  • A copy of your passport while living in Norway.
  • A copy of your permit of stay in Norway, passport number and place of issue as well.
  • Copies of your passport page with your Norway visa or of the document with address in Norway.

EligibilityEdit

  • Applicant with valid passport and a valid address proof.
  • Age: 18 years and above. In case of minors, the application must be submitted by the parent exercising parental authority, if the minor has not turned 18 years.
  • The current address of the applicant must be same as in the passport and other supporting documents.
  • Applicants who are in need of residential status, employment or long term visa or for immigration to a foreign nation.

  • Fees, charges for stamps and other requirement varies for case to case. Updated charges requirement will be provided by respective authorities while applying.

InstructionsEdit

There are three types of certificates available depending on the purpose for which disclosure is sought. The types of certificate are:

  • A Standard/Ordinary Certificate is the default form of disclosure. It contains details of most categories of punishable offences, these are subject to time limitations regulated law.
  • A Limited Certificate only contains details of a particular category of punishable offence relevant to a job role. This certificate is not applicable for applicants outside of Norway.
  • An Exhaustive Certificate contains information about every given criminal sanction and penal reactions, this certificate has no time limitations.
  • An Exhaustive and extended Certificate contains information about every given criminal sanction, penal reactions and other measures as a result of offenses. It can also state on going prosecutions. This certificate has no time limitations
  • A Standard/Ordinary Certificate will be issued by default. If a Limited or Comprehensive Certificate is required, this should be clearly stated on the application form.

  • If you want to appeal You must submit your appeal no more than three weeks after you have received your criminal record certificate.
  • You must appeal in writing.
  • You may appeal if you disagree with the contents of the certificate. You may also appeal if the police decide not to issue you with a criminal record certificate. You can send your appeal to:

  • If they agree with your appeal, they will send you a new criminal record certificate. If they do not agree, they will forward your appeal to the National Police Directorate for further consideration.
