Apply In-Person:

  1. To apply for the registration of a private educational institution in Zambia, the applicant will have to contact the general education ministry office of Zambia, for the main office visit link
  2. Make sure that you have all the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  3. An application form will be provided to the applicant at the general education ministry office.
  4. Once understanding the guideline properly, the applicant has to fill in all the necessary information in the application form.
  5. A proprietor of a private educational institution has to appoint a board of management for the private educational institution.
  6. Submit the application form with necessary attachments to the office.
  7. The application will be forwarded for verification to the Registrar of Private Educational Institutions.
  8. The concerned authorities will inspect everything according to the guidelines provided by the Ministry of Education.
  9. If the facility meets all the guidelines and the Registrar of Private Educational Institutions signs the application form, the applicant will most probably get the license.
  10. Pay the fee as given in the “Fees” section of this page.
  11. After the completion of above steps, the validation permit will be accessible.
  12. The applicant gets the permit in a stipulated Period of Time.

  • Photocopy of the registration certificate with the Registrar of Private Educational Institutions.
  • Photocopy of ZRA Tax registration certificate.
  • Photocopy of National Registration Card(s) or Passport(s) of Proprietor(s).
  • Copies of registration and qualification certificates for all educational professionals intending to work at the facility.
  • Copy of proof of ownership of premises or if premises are leased.
  • Copy of tenancy agreement.
  • Environmental Impact Assessment (Only applicable to newly built facilities).
  • Copy of proof of payment for application and inspection.

EligibilityEdit

  • A management that intends to operate a private educational institution.
  • The members of the management team must be bonafide residents of Zambia.
  • The management group should comprise not less than six and not more than thirteen members.

InstructionsEdit

  • A person or group shall not operate a private educational institution unless the institution is registered under the Zambia Education Act.
  • Not registering will lead to an offence and is liable, upon conviction, to a fine up to five hundred thousand penalty units or imprisonment for a period up to five years, or both.
