Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. To register a Certification Mark in Zambia, the applicant will have to contact the Patents and Companies Registration Agency (PACRA). Please tap on the following link to view contact details link.
2. Make sure to have all the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
3. An application form will be provided to the applicant upon visiting any Zambia Development Authority office. Find the form on page 89 Link here.
4. Once understanding the guideline properly, the applicant has to fill in all the necessary information in the application form.
5. Submit the application form with necessary attachments to the office.
6. Pay the fee as given in the “Fees” section of this page.
7. After the completion and verification of all the required documents, the mark will be registered.

Eligibility

• Any proprietor who wants to mark goods or services with a mark can apply.

Fees

• Application Fee: USD 14.

Validity

• The mark will be valid according to the Trademark Act of Zambia.

Instructions

• The certification mark should be one of the following:
• The mark should be the name of a company, individual or firm, represented in a special or particular manner.
• The signature of the applicant for registration or some predecessor in his business.
• An invented word or invented words.
• A word or words having no direct reference to the character or quality of the goods and not being, according to its ordinary signification, a geographical name or a surname.
